Blueberries for Val
This is an assigned pooling shawl.
It’s a 1-skein knit project with knit and purl stitches. When the color changes, change your stitch.
The shawl is knit flat and it’s reversible. A garter stitch boarder prevents curling edges. The vortex shape gives you the most scarf for a 1-skein project.
This shawl is ideal for Assigned Pooling yarn. Look for yarn with 2 colors – the main color should fill about 75% of the hank, and the contrast color the remaining 25%. You might find an indie dyed yarn with 8-12” pops of bright color. The contrast color should have obvious contrast to the main color.
This is an Advanced Beginner pattern using knits and purls and basic shaping.
As you knit, the 2 yarn overs on the right-hand side create the wingspan, a curvilinear shape.
The decreases (K2tog) on the left-hand side stack up to create a distinct line of stitches. The garter stitch border prevents the dreaded stockinette edge curl.
The shaping happens on Front Side rows only, the wrong side rows are vacation rows.
