Bluebirds fly…
A cute little bird motif for appliqué and adding a decorative touch to projects.

Pattern Description
A bluebird or swallow motif, worked in the round. (Use different yarn weights or strands held together to create different sizes.)

Skill Level
Easy/Intermediate
Basic stitches used, but can be a little fiddly, especially on the smaller sized birds.

Yarn
This motif can be made in any yarn weight, only a few yards are needs for each bird. I recommend using a hook size one or two sizes smaller than required for your yarn.

Or you can also hold two or more strands of yarn together to make different sizes of bird.

Stylecraft Classique Cotton 4ply (2.5mm hook)
Stylecraft Classique Cotton DK (3.5mm hook)
Rico Creative Cotton Aran (4mm hook)

As above, or size needed for your yarn

Yarn needle
PVA glue and paint brush (optional)

Size
Will vary based on your yarn and hook size, but as a guide:
4ply yarn / 2.5mm hook: 5 cm long
DK yarn / 3.5m hook: 7cm long
Aran yarn / 4mm hook: 8cm long
