Bluey
Bluey is an oversized, drop-shoulder construction garment. The body is knit in the round, up to the sleeves, and then completed in pieces. Shoulders are joined using the three-needle bind-off technique.
A different yarn used for sleeves was my attempt to add elegance and style and to make the garment more festive.
I suggest using similar yarn colours to make sleeves. A different texture of the yarn and lace pattern on the sleeves will make subtle and chic details.
Sleeves are oversized and knitted in the round. The sleeve length is below the elbows.
The body of the pullover is knit with two strands of Nutiden Yarn to create a sturdy and, at the same time, lightweight fabric to hold the form.
I’ve chosen Fusion Sulco yarn for the sleeves (blue garments version). It has a beautiful sheen and is soft and silky. Sleeves knitted in the lace pattern look stunning, bringing another dimension to the whole look of the garment.
I’ve chosen Isager Silk Mohair (pink sample) for the sleeves. The sleeves look puffy, fluffy and fuzzy. It brings more airiness and lightness to the design.
You can play with any light-fingering weight yarn for the sleeves. Make the gauge sample to evaluate the stretch and drape.
An alternative for Nutiden Yarn could be Plötulopi unspun wool - Icelandic wool by Ístex. One Icelandic Plötulopi plate is approx. 100 g (3.5 oz) approx. 300 m (328 yds).
