I love cables and lace together, especially in a heavier weight yarn. It’s somehow both delicate and hefty at the same time. This particular cable-and-lace pattern just screamed “pin-up girl” to me, so I had to design the sweater with elbow-length sleeves! Of course, you can always lengthen them to be full sleeves if that’s more your style. Since they are worked from the top down, that’s the easiest change to make.

I really hate it when ribbing doesn’t flow nicely from the body of a knit. When I went to knit the neckband, I could not make the ribbing work out nicely with the cables of the front, so I decided to just scrap ribbing altogether and go with a clean applied I-cord finish. Also, I love knitting I-cord. I don’t know why. It just soothes me.
