Bly shawl’s color scheme and stitch pattern are reminiscent of the dark, gothic, and mysterious atmosphere of the Netflix series “The Haunting of the Bly Manor”, which I watched while thinking up this design – thus the name! The stitch pattern (which is from an old book) had been earlier mentioned on Instagram, and I thought it would be nice to use in a shawl.
The shawl is constructed similarly to “Shelliana”, with increases along the side, and a few short rows to ensure it stays put while exploring the unknown of vast and creepy old manors, or just walking within the predictably secure confines of your own house.

Materials:
* Malabrigo Yarn Sock (100% Merino): 100g/ 440 yards 402 meters: 2 skeins or approx. 770 yards 710 meters in main color (MC) and 1 skein or approx. 400 yards 365 meters in contrasting color (CC).

Sample is knit in colorways “Plomo” and “Turner”.

  • US 4 – 3.5 mm 32” 80 cm circular needles
  • stitch markers
  • tapestry needle
