The Blye Shawl is a DK-weight shawl adaptation of my bulkyweight Blye Bandana Cowl — I loved the juxtaposition of graphic stripes and delicate lace too much to let it go just yet! The pattern provides a background for unlimited color combinations — striking to subdued — and three skeins of lovely Silky Sheep from Greenwood Fiberworks give it a gorgeous drape and generous size.

This pattern contains both fully charted and written instructions. Please note that throughout lace portion, some simple patterning happens on WS rows

Recommended Yarn:
Greenwood Fiberworks Silky Sheep — 50% merino / 50% silk — 231 yds (211 m) per 100 g. Sample used most of three different skeins, for 693 yds (634 m) in total.

Sizing:
58” (147 cm) across and 29” (74 cm) deep.

Gauge:
16 sts and 26 rows in stockinette st on smaller needle, blocked. (The high silk content in the sample yarn helps to create this drapey gauge and finished size. Yarns with other fiber content will behave differently.)

PLEASE NOTE: Changes in gauge will affect finished size, look of motifs, and amount of yarn used. To meet these dimensions, be sure to use needle size that gives gauge.

Needles:
US 7 (4.5 mm) circular (or size that gives gauge), 32” length or longer, plus US 9 (5.5 mm) needle (or needle two sizes larger) for bind off.

Other Materials:
27 stitch markers (1 distinct to mark center spine), tapestry needle.
