The Maude-Roxby Wetlands are one of the last remaining marsh habitats on Okanagan Lake’s shoreline. The diverse natural habitat supports several marsh animals, including beavers, muskrats, and a variety of rare birds. A winding boardwalk allows visitors to enjoy a peaceful and serene stroll through nature.
These eye-catching socks mix classic stripes and bold contrast for a fun and fashionable knit, while the simple slipped stitch pattern provides visual interest to keep you engaged to completion. With both cuff-down and toe-up instructions and eleven sizes, you’ll want to knit a pair for everyone!

For a well-fitting sock, aim for a finished circumference of around 10–15% (½–1½” / 1.25–3.75cm) smaller than actual foot circumference (measured around the ball of the foot, with the foot on a flat surface). For example, if the foot is 8¼” / 21cm around, aim for a finished circumference of 7–7½” / 18–19cm. For adult feet, finished sock foot should measure about ½” / 1.5cm shorter than actual foot length (measured from longest toe to back of heel). For example, if the foot is 9” / 23cm long, aim for a finished length of 8½” / 21.5cm. For growing feet, you may wish for finished sock foot to measure closer to actual foot length, to allow for extended wear. The suggested foot lengths are based off averages (for example, the average 9” circumference foot measures 9.5” long); however, length is easily adjustable for a personalized fit, with instructions given throughout.

Suggested yarn: Malabrigo Ultimate Sock (75% merino, 25% nylon; plied; 420y / 385m per 100g), or any fingering weight yarn of similar yardage and weight. Ensure your choice contains some nylon for long-lasting durability.
Pair two colourways with strong tonal contrast for a more dramatic effect.

Notions: stitch markers, waste yarn, darning needle.

Gauge: 32 st and 53 rnds over 4” / 10cm in stockinette stitch and 35 st and 68 rnds over 4” / 10cm in slipped stitch pattern used on sock bottom.
A different gauge will affect finished measurements and yardage requirements.
Suggested needles: 2.25mm (US 1), or size needed to obtain listed gauge, in preferred style for working small circumference in the round.
