Bobble and Twist Hood
It’s a winter bonnet! It’s a beanie turned on it’s side! It’s a diembodied hood! This hat has an unusual profile, which gives it and interesting and fun look. The ‘brim’ is a lovely cable and bobble design and the crown is a slipped stitch rib that is not too snug. Three sassy pom-pons complete the look.
The brim band of this hat is knit first and then stitches are picked up along one edge and knit flat to form the slipped stitch rib crown. The chunky yarn makes this a quick project.
Note about yarn selection. I designed this hat specifically for Baby Alpaca Grande, which is listed as ‘super bulky’ but is very squishy. The fabric created is floppy and has a nice drape. If you must use a wool or acryllic yarn, I would suggest using a heavy worsted or aran weight rather than bulky, even if you get gauge with bulky. The fibers have different properties and the wool won’t have the nice drape in bulky that the alpaca has.
Fit can be adjusted with the length of the ribbing section and the length of the seam in the back.
