Bobble Throw
Field Guide No. 12: Big Joy - We love a blanket.
The secret to this throw is that the color bobbles are added after knitting the blanket.
This allows plenty of fun in playing with color and design–how many bobbles? What colors?
Materials
-- Big Wool by Rowan [100 g balls, each approx 87 yds (80 m), 100% wool], 10 balls of main color and 4 balls of border color, plus oddments for bobbles if you choose different colors for bobbles.
Please note: The first edition of the printed version of the Field Guide mistakenly states that 20 balls of the main color and 4 balls of the border color are required. In fact only 10 balls of the main color and 2 balls of the border color are required. This error has been corrected in the digital version and in subsequent printings.
-- Size US 13 (9 mm) circular needle, 32” (80 cm) long or longer, or size needed to achieve gauge
-- Removable stitch markers or waste yarn to mark bobble placement
Knitted Measurements
-- 40” wide x 50” long (101.5 cm x 127 cm)
Size
-- One Size
Gauge
-- 10 sts & 14 rows = 4” (10 cm) over Stockinette stitch.
Notes
-- The pattern includes shades and specifications to replicate the photography sample, but this blanket is an ideal project for your own experiments in color blocking, striping, and fun with bobbles.
