Bobbles & Flaps Cap
A nice, warm hat made with soft, self-striping yarn. Any self-striping, worsted weight (#4) yarn can be used.
The cap can be made smaller by reducing the number of increase rounds. To make a larger cap continue the increase rounds with one more stitch between increases each row. The bobbles for this cap are made while working the RS rows, rather than the standard method of making them on WS rows. This makes modifying the size of the bobble easier, since you can see it as you make it.
The extra earflaps are an optional feature. Making and attaching these to the cap’s earflaps will make the hat much warmer and keep your ears warm even in January snow. For those in warmer latitudes, skip the extra earflaps and make the cap with its attached flaps. This will prevent the cap from becoming too warm for those California winters.
The pattern includes a hand-written chart.
