The Blossom Bonnet is a quick and easy knit, featuring the pretty Channel Island bind off, which adds interest to the knitting process. Sizes range from newborn up to adult, 4 sizes in all. They are knit with 4ply (fingering weight) on 4mm needles and so the Cat’s Paw lace motifs create a soft, open fabric, suitable for most seasons (speaking as an Australian).

The bonnet is knit flat, then stitched up the back with garter seaming before adding the ties, which may be long for tying a bow or shorter with a button or two, as you prefer.

Sizes: (1): Little Baby (0-6 months), (2): Toddler (5-18 months depending on their little heads), (3): Child or Smaller Adult (well… almost too small for my boof head 4 year old grandson who doesn’t like it anyway, but fits my 43 year old daughter, so…), (4): Adult.

Size (1): Isager Tweed in Natural White & Isager Spinni in shade 10m (duck egg blue, held double).
Sizes (2&3): Jamieson’s of Shetland Spindrift: Damask (567) & Purple Heather (239).
Size (4): Jamieson’s of Shetland Spindrift: Eggshell (768), Fuchsia (530) & Apple (785).
Total weights: Size (1): (18g), Size (2): (22g), Size (3): (31g), Size (4): (37g). So, a stash buster if ever there was one.

I have made the bonnets in two coloured stripes, one with a contrasting edge. The other is in a single colour with a contrasting edge. Suitable also would be a multi coloured yarn, or anything at all really!

Gauge shows my own but some difference won’t matter too much.
