Bobby's Fair Isle Thistle Tam o'Shanters (2 in 1)
(Both styles included)
After designing the Thistle Wristwarmer pattern I thought I’d make a matching Tam
o’Shanter… so I played around with the motifs, eventually creating two tams instead of just
the one (I couldn’t decide which I liked best). They are quite similar, but turned-about in the band pattern placement, which effects what you see (at the brim) as the wearer. I’ve knit each one in a different colourway, the first with cool undertones and the second with warm. Plus there’s a covered button on the top of each, patterned in duplicate stitch.
A hat is a lovely, quick knit and I love to work up such little treats in-betweens larger projects. It will make a gorgeous gift and you’ll have almost instant knitting gratification! Plus of course you can use up your 4ply left overs if you want to (I’m always keen to purchase new wool!).
I’m on a mission to design as many little projects as the 10 colours in Jamieson’s Shetland Spindrift wool will allow. So far I have the wristwarmers and now the tams.
Onward and upward!
