My vast hoard of yarn includes a few snippets of very old wool, given to me by my Grandma. One of these is the gorgeous lavender pebble-dashed bouclé seen here, which now is used up. It must be at least fifty years old. Good thing I hung on to it huh? Always a sensible thing to do. The second pair uses the leftover wool purchased for my Fair Isle Thistle Wristwarmers and Tam o’Shanter.
My original plan with this little pattern was to see how far I could take those ten balls of Spindrift, but I was side tracked by the bouclé and ended up doing both.
Colours change the appearance of a design so much! It makes for an interesting experiment to play around, altering where you put lights and shades and so on. These are the same basic pattern, with only a couple of little changes. Plus, the mauve pair are longer.
I’ve included a plain black and white chart so you can do some colouring-in experiments of your own. Lay a sheet of tracing paper over it and try other combinations, if you want to. Or get the kids onto it.
Errata: chart for mauve pair shows different plain row amounts! One has 2 extra. Will fix ASAP!
You really don’t need much yarn. One 25 gram ball of Jamieson’t Spindrft would give you more than you need for the main colour.
To make them larger, just up your needles to 3mm.
