This pattern is for a cable knit hat starting with a knit purl rib. It’s done in a very bulky yarn so it knits quickly and has a good bit of stretch when it’s done.

I designed the pattern for someone with a 23 inch head circumference and a 7.5 inch bottom of ear to top of head distance. However, the pattern works for multiples 8 stitches, increasing or decreasing the stitch count should be very easy.

I recommend purchasing 200 yards of yarn (2 balls) in the same dye lot for this pattern, one ball would not be enough.
