This pattern is of particular significance to me for a number of reasons. As a mixed race, white presenting person, I have always felt very conflicted about my identity. It wasn’t until just a few years ago that I started doing some important work to better understand my place in the world and how I could own both sides, without needing to resort to ‘halves’. The bodhi leaf is a symbol of many things in Sri Lankan culture, but for me it’s one of the first physical and natural ties I have to that beautiful country. So this design is an homage to the half that people can’t see, built into a supportive pattern that will hopefully last you a lifetime.
Happy knitting!

This pattern is worked from the toe up, which I find allows you to be as efficient as possible with your yarn. It features an all-over-colourwork design (even the toe) and a fleegle heel so you never need to cut your yarn!
