Body Armor Cowl
There are days where it feels like you need an extra layer of protection to get through it all. The Body Armor Cowl is designed for those moments.
The pattern features soothing, neat rows of texture that are almost entirely mindless to work up and the finished cowl is the best kind of armor for your heart. It wraps around and snuggles up gently, a reminder to yourself and to the world that you are amazingly talented and awesomely skilled. No matter what life throws your way - you got this.
Worked in one piece from the top down, the cowl requires almost no counting and can easily be adjusted to size. It uses advanced stitches and relies on the crocheter being able to read their work, but tutorials and helpful notes are included throughout the pattern.
Sample
Sample used Youghiogheny Yarns Silky Yak, 523yds/120g in Blue Jeans
Thanks to Youghiogheny Yarns for providing the yarn for the pattern sample!
Yarn, Yardage, and Colors
The pattern calls for one skein of fingering weight, but can easily be adjusted to work with anything from a fingering weight to a bulky. The pattern is all about the texture and works best with a yarn that will show off texture nicely - the sample uses a single ply, but any base that plays well with texture will work perfectly.
The texture will be somewhat obscured with a highly variegated yarn and the pattern works best with a tonal or solid, or any colorway that isn’t too busy. The cowl would work perfectly with a gradient and can be adjusted to use up the entire skein.
Other Materials
2 stitch markers
Additional stitch markers are helpful to mark things as needed
Size and Customizations

The cowl is deliberately made to have a relatively loose fit. Notes are included to adjust for a tighter fit. The cowl can also be worked to desired circumference, and you can add rows in either section to adjust for fit.

Printing
Both a regular and printer friendly version are available! The regular version includes large photos on the first page and the last four pages, so print accordingly. The printer-friendly version has only one photo on the cover page, and less spacing so the pattern takes up fewer pages. For more details on what the printer-friendly version includes, see this page. If you are working from the printer-friendly version and are having trouble with a pattern, I strongly recommend checking the regular version. The text will be easier to read and it might have more detailed instructions.
Screen Reader Accessibility
The main pattern pdf is designed to be screen reader compatible. The text is all in one column and headers are formatted according to the style sheet. The pattern is written out completely and the images have descriptive alt text.
