When I was a young girl my mother loved to go to ‘the pictures’ and Humphrey Bogart was one of her favourite actors. I still find myself drawn to these old movies, Calsablanca, The Maltese Falcon, The African Queen.
I wanted to design a unisex pattern and immediately knew what I would call it. Who doesn’t love Bogie and Bacall? There is just something about them and their romance/marriage that to me is timeless.

Strong columns of simple textured stitches combine with elegant easy cables to create texture and movement in these socks. The pattern uses a gusset and slipped stitch heel, however the pattern lends itself to a variety of heel treatments.

Pattern as written suits medium ladies foot, but can be adjusted smaller/larger, and is suitable for a man’s sock. So you can knit for the Bogie and Bacall in your life both toe-up and top-down instructions are included.
