The Bold Coast Beanie, which matches the Bold Coast Cowl, was inspired by my love for the bold rocky coast of Maine. Certain colorwork sections of this pattern remind me of the waves that crash upon the rocky granite shores.

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner/Intermediate.

This is a great pattern for those trying colorwork/Fair Isle knitting for the first time where you will use a simple colorwork chart.

Size and Fit: Fitted Adult/Teen.

It’s a great way to use up your super bulky yarn scraps! I’ve also designed a matching cowl pattern in worsted yarn called the Bold Coast Cowl. You can find it in my Ravelry store.

Supplies:
• One stitch marker.
• Pom pom (optional).
• US 13 / 9mm 16” circular knitting needles.
• US 15 / 10mm 16” circular knitting needles.
• You may also need double pointed needles for the decrease section if you feel the hat is too tight to knit on circulars.
• Super bulky yarn (weight 6) in three contrasting colors:
Color A: Approx. 50 yards.
Color B: Approx. 10 yards.
Color C: Approx. 20 yards.
I used Malabrigo Rasta, but any other weight 6 yarn will be fine, provided you meet gauge.
Note: In order to highlight the colorwork nicely, I suggest using three contrasting colors.
