Bolthus the realistic ferret or polecat
With this very detailed pattern, you can make a super-realistic and playful ferret or polecat. You can even make your own pet! This .pdf crochet pattern is written in standard American crochet terms.
Size
If you use the recommended yarn, your ferret will be 9.5 inch / 24 cm from nose to tail end.
Materials
For this crochet animal you’ll need worsted weight yarn (Lètt Lopi) and an E US/3.5 mm crochet hook. You’ll need three colours: oatmeal 0085 (1/3 of a 100-yard skein), sheep black heather 0052 (1/5 of a 100-yard skein) and a little bit of white 0051. For a polecat’s nose you can use the black sheep heather but if you make a ferret you need a tiny bit of pink for the nose. For the eyes I’ve used 8 mm animal eyes. You will also need fibrefill. A pipe-cleaner to make the tail bendable is optional.
The crochet pattern contains
An intro with useful info. List of materials, tools and accessories needed. Brand and colour numbers of the needed yarn. A clear and colour coded description of how to crochet and assemble the animal, with instruction images next to the text and example pictures at the bottom to help you get everything right. All my patterns are text edited for correct English and have been tested by experienced crocheters before publishing.
Yarn
Istex Lett lopi. I strongly recommend using a fuzzy yarn because it gives the best result.
Gauge is unimportant for this pattern. If the pieces are crocheted tightly enough, they will not gape visibly when stuffed. You can make a little test swap to be sure.
