Bonanza Blanket
My cheery and bright Bonanza Blanket, worked in one piece with an optional crochet edging.
Super simple, if you can do the knit stitch you can do this! Just cast on and knit (and knit and knit…!) All the interest in this design is in the colour changes and the layout of the stripes.
The pattern includes both a chart and written instructions for the stripe sequence, so you can choose which to follow.
Instructions are aimed at beginners, with hints and tips - but if you just want to use the stripe sequence it’s written out on the last page.
Enjoy!

Answers to Common Questions
Yarns: I do not sell this blanket in a kit with yarns and I do not sell the yarns. This is just a free pattern idea I am sharing for fun. You may be able to find or order the yarn in a LYS in the UK, or if you are not in the UK it may be available with international shipping online at stores such as LoveKnitting or Deramores, the yarn name has since been rebranded to “Hayfield Bonus Chunky” but it is the same yarn by the same manufacturer.
Yardage: You need 450 yards of EACH of the colours to make the blanket in this size. The whole blanket takes almost 3000 yards of yarn in total (including the border). It is a big blanket.
I am not able to recalculate yardages individually for modified sizes, so if you are modifying, you will need to adjust your yardage up or down accordingly.
Sizing: If you want to make it bigger cast on more stitches to make it wider and then knit for longer to make it longer. If you want to make it smaller cast on less stitches to make it narrower and then knit to a shorter length to make it shorter. It is just garter stitch, there are no specific stitch multiples, cast on enough to make it the size you prefer.
The finished blanket measures 150 x 180 cm (60 x 70 inches), provided you obtain the gauge given in the pattern (so check your gauge with a swatch before starting!). If you have a particular size bed in mind, measure the bed and compare it to the finished measurements of the blanket. The bed in the TOP photo (my photo) is a UK double bed.
