Bondi
Grab a pretty skein of fingering / sock yarn and enjoy the relaxation of Bondi’s easy-going garter stitch and simple eyelet lace.
Yarn Requirements
Approximately 400 yards / 366 metres of fingering / sock / 4 ply yarn.
The sample was knitted in Atelier Yarn Pinnacle single-ply fingering yarn (Superwash Non-mulesed Merino Wool; 400 yards / 366 metres per 100 grams) in the Bondi colourway, 1 skein.
Needles & Notions
US 6 / 4 mm circular needles, 24 inches / 60 cm or longer, to accommodate the large number of stitches.
1 stitch marker (optional).
Tapestry / yarn needle to weave in yarn ends.
Gauge
18 sts and 36 rows per 4 inches / 10 cm in garter stitch after blocking.
Gauge is not crucial but a different gauge will alter the finished size, drape and amount of yarn required.
Finished Measurements
Wingspan (length across top edge) 70 inches / 178 cm;
Depth (at widest point) 12 inches / 30.5 cm after blocking.
Skills Required / Techniques Used
Knit, purl, yarn over, increase and decrease stitches; slip stitch edges; picot or stretchy bind-off; knitted cast-on (optional); blocking (to make your finished shawl sing!).
