About this pattern:
• This is a made to measure pattern, it is equiped with excel calculator that will help you to count the Foundation Chain.
• Pattern is written in English with standard US terms.
• As I am a right-handed, this pattern is written with right-handed crocheters in mind, left-handed crocheters should crochet in different direction).
• This pattern is suitable for advanced beginner crocheters
• This crochet pattern works in rows and rounds
About this top:
• This top will have a wide scoop neck that can be worn as an off shoulder by adjusting the drawstring on the neckline.
• This top will have relaxed fit with ruched waist and puff sleeve (the ruched waist and puff sleeve is optional, you can skip the drawstring on the waist and sleeves).
• This top looks best in cropped length (the ruched waist falls on your waistline or above).
• This top is made up from one continuous panel (both in rows and rounds).
• I used top – bottom construction method for this top, we are going to start working from the top all the way to your waist.
p.s: I know some might say that my written pattern looks so intimidating because of the oh so many pages
and the supplementary excel spreadsheet. But don’t worry, this long pdf file means there are tons of
step by step picture and diagrams to help you get through it.
++ with the excel spreadsheet, you won’t need to do math, the excel will do it for you
(because I know, I am not the only one who hate math, and I am not the only one who are just too lazy to match gauge).
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A DIGITAL
CROCHET PATTERN AND TUTORIAL ONLY,
NOT A FINISHED ITEM / PRODUCT.
There will be NO physical item, product, material or tools to be send.
All the pattern and instruction is written in English, using standard US terms.
Materials & tools needed:
• #1 Fingering weight yarn / #2 Sport weight yarn / #3 DK weight yarn
• Respective crochet hook for any weight yarn that you choose and one size larger hook (one size larger means 3.00 mm and 3.50 mm, 4.00mm and 4.50 mm, etc).
Note: if your tension is on the tighter side and you are aiming for an airy top, would recommend you to size up your hook.
• Scissors
• Stitch markers
• Measuring tape / ruler
• Elastic thread / Elastic cord / Elastic string (optional, you can always change this with long chain cord, I use elastics because I am too lazy to adjust the fit every time I wear my piece)
Yarn usage based on my measurement (bust 81 cm, waist 69 cm)
- Top height 35 cm, short sleeve, I used approximately 130 g ( ±380 m) of #1 fingering weight cotton blend yarn in baby pink color, used 3.00mm hook size
- Top height 35 cm, long sleeve, I used approximately 235 g ( ±680 m) of #1 fingering weight cotton blend yarn in royal blue color, used 2.00mm hook size
- Top height 35 cm, short sleeve, I used approximately 160 g ( ±426m) of #DK weight cotton blend yarn in baby yellow color Note: if you used 100% pure cotton yarn, you have to double the weight as it is heavier than cotton and acrylic blend. (How much yarn you required is highly depends on the yarn weight, crochet hook size, your tension, bust size, sleeve length and the top length. I put the detailed info on how much yarn does each testers used in the lookbook)
Yarn recommendation:
- Light weight yarn (fingering weight) will create flowy and airy drape, DK weight yarn will create boxier drape.
- Cotton yarn (100% cotton yarn, cotton blend, cotton bamboo) will create more crisp and defined texture.
- Acrylic blend yarn (such as 3 ply / 4 ply milk cotton yarn) will create puffier drape.
Crochet hook reference:
- #1 fingering weight cotton blend yarn (pink): 3.50 mm for FC, 3.00 mm for everything else
- #1 fingering weight cotton blend yarn (royal blue): 2.50 mm for FC, 2.00 mm for everything else
- #3 DK weight acrylic blend yarn: 4.00 mm for FC, 3.50 mm for everything else
