This is a toe up, 4 ply weight sock pattern.

This sock pattern was written for double pointed needles, although it can be used to knit with small circulars and magic loop. This pattern has instructions for three sizes:

  • Small (56 sts)
  • Medium (64 sts)
  • Large (72 sts)

Instructions for this sock are in written and charted format.

I have used Birdstreet Yarn 4 ply sock yarn to knit this sock, but any 4 ply weight yarn can be used.

You may have to adjust your needle size to get the correct gauge.

The design for these socks was inspired by my Skoosh Socks - Toe Up. Sometimes when I am knitting socks, I like to add a wee bit of texture to an otherwise plain sock, and this broken rib stitch pattern is perfect for that.

This stitch pattern works great on sock yarns with a lot of colour variegation as it does not compete with all the colours in the yarn. Your yarn colours will still be the main focus of your sock and the pattern just adds a little bit of interest whilst knitting, to produce a bonnie pair of socks.
