Book Dragon Lair Wall Hanging
Make a fabulous Book Dragon Lair wall hanging using single crochet!
This pattern will show you how to make this design using any method you like! The row by row pattern can be used with single crochet, knitting, or any row by row method. The grid can be used for C2C, puff stitch, cross stitch or any other creative purpose. The grid comes numbered along the sides for easy row/column counting. You can download 2 files instantly after purchase: 1 PDF file with row by row pattern and 1 large grid for easy reference
Difficulty Level: Intermediate, the color changes can be a challenge.
Finished Size: Depending on your tension and yarn thickness, the finished wall hanging should come out at about 26” across by 29” high (66 cm by 74 cm)
Recommended Materials: Crochet hook - 4mm. Large bodkin for finishing touches and hanging. Something to hang it with - I used wooden dowel rods.
Yarn: I used a mix of Caron Simply Soft Party (SSP) yarn (3 oz / 85g) and Caron Simply Soft (SS) yarn (6oz / 170g).
SS Gold 0.5 balls
SSP Silver Sparkle 1 ball
SSP Teal Sparkle 0.5 ball
SS Chocolate 1 ball
SSP Royal Sparkle 0.5 balls
SSP Purple Sparkle 0.5 balls
SSP Red Sparkle 2 balls
SSP Black Sparkle 2 balls
Skills Needed: Single crochet, color changing. When you change color, ALWAYS pull the NEW color through as the final loop in the last stitch of the old color. If you are only doing one stitch in that color, that stitch counts as the lasts stitch.
Other notes:
You will be making this hanging sideways instead of from the top. This is to minimize the amount of colors you need to manage at any given time. I highly recommend some form of bobbins when crocheting this pattern to keep your yarn organized. Remember, this is a wall hanging - you won’t need to sew in any ends! So be free to cut your yarn and start new whenever you feel like it.
