Bookshelf Cardigan
This download is an PDF chart (NOT a written pattern) of my bookshelf design for the back and front panels of a cardigan. A full, free copy of the cardigan pattern I used can be found here: https://forthefrills.com/crochet-briar-oversized-pocket-c...
Note that my chart is for the front and back panels and does not include a pattern for the sleeves or ribbing because I did not add a design to those pieces. Please visit the above website, or feel free to adapt my design to another pattern of your choice.
This pattern is recommended for intermediate crocheters. It is fairly simple but does require some experience in color changing and techniques such as wide crocheting to achieve a difference in texture between each piece.
The bottom of the spreadsheet has tabs for Small (width: 20.5”; bust: 34”; length: 26”), Medium (width: 22.5”; bust: 38”; length: 27”), and Large (width: 24.5”; bust: 42”; length: 27”) versions of the design. Meant to be oversized, the pattern is forgiving and can easily be adjusted by adding more rows of dark brown on the top, or more books on the shelves.
Materials needed:
- Size 4 yarn in desired colors (I used (1) dark brown for the background; (2) tan for the shelves; (3) teal, (4) blue, and (5) mint for the books; (6) green for the plants; (7) cream for the cat, pots, and teacup; (8) pink for the cactus flower and teacup; and (9) brown for the ribbing). For the medium pattern, I used 3 skeins of dark brown, and less than 1 skein for each of the other colors.
- 6.5mm crochet hook
- Scissors
- 6 buttons (optional)
I had so much fun crocheting this piece; hope you do too :)
