Boomerang Tam
This is simply my favorite tam pattern! Based on fish scale lace, this pattern that is both easy to memorize and stunning in execution. Whether you make a cap- sized hat or a super-slouchy tam, whether you choose to block it or not, the result will certainly please. This pattern also works great with both smooth yarns and those with a halo, with solid yarns and variegated. I genuinely hope you enjoy this one – I know I do!
Materials
• About 180 yards worsted weight yarn
• US 7 needle for the brim (either a 16” circular or dpns)
• US 8 needles: a 16” circular or dpns for the body and dpns for the crown (optional; depending upon your personal gauge you may wish to use the 7’s for the entire piece)
Pattern Notes
• This pattern is easily adaptable to any weight yarn
by casting on any multiple of fifteen. The number of sts you CO may obviously change the yardage requirements and the ribbing pattern for the brim of the hat, and you may wish to add Body pattern repeats.
