Booties are Bootees
These cute little booties are a modern take on a classic bootie pattern. A perfect baby shower or newborn gift, or great for a pregnancy announcement.
The name for this pattern comes from my childhood memory of learning to knit at the age of 5. I started with a pair of booties, but my Australian pattern book called them “bootees”. I was learning to spell at the time and was annoyed that the same word was spelt differently in different books. At that age I settled on “bootees” and it now appears that the world has settled on “booties”! This, to me booties are bootees.
They are quick and easy to knit, with a minimum of finishing, as they are knitted in one piece in the round.
The pattern is in 3 sizes (newborn - 3 months, 3 - 6 months and 6 - 9 months) and requires sport weight (or 5ply) or a light DK weight yarn. One 50g ball will make 2 to 3 pairs of booties.
One 3.75mm and one 3.25mm circular needle are required.
Suitable for a beginner knitter who can knit in the round.
