Booty-Licious
The Booty-Licious pattern is modeled after a 6-gored skirt. It is designed to be worked from your measurements so the sizes can go from little girl, to big girl, and down to doll-sized. The A-line shape is created by increases in the six “seams.” To accommodate some booty, there are hidden short rows to create a little extra fabric so it is the same length all around.
You will calculate the cast on and the amount of short row pairs needed, using your waist measurement and the front and back lengths. Not too taxing. You will also need to make a gauge swatch (sorry!) to complete the calculations.
My sample was made using my 39” waist, so I used about 2500 yards. Someone with a smaller or larger waist would use less or more than that.
I like using cotton yarn because it is easily washable. I would expect that linen or rayon would work well, too. It is nice and drapy.
In honor of Stitches West coming up this weekend, I will discount the pattern to $1.00 through Sunday. Use the coupon code STSW2018.
