Stitch magic. Boreas is a unisex cardigan—almost a jacket—with plantlike cables, growing organically from the ribbing as a backdrop. It’s a versatile sweater that can be dressed up or down.

This cardigan is worked in pieces from the bottom up, then sewn together after blocking. The Front armholes are worked to a longer depth than the Back. The Front bands are worked in two pieces, a front and a back facing; the zipper is sewn in place between the bands. The cable pattern is presented in both chart form and row-by-row instructions.

#sizeinclusive to a 67.75” / 172 cm finished chest measurement.

This knitting pattern includes written directions, chart and written instructions for cable pattern, front and back images, and a schematic with measurements.

Substitution Notes
The specified yarn is a rustic, woolly 2-ply yarn. A smooth yarn with great stitch definition would also work really nicely. Wool and wool blends are ideal for their insulating properties.

Techniques
Increases/decreases, cabled decreases (optional), working cables from charts or written instructions, basic set-in sleeve sweater construction, English tailored shoulders (with clear instructions), worked flat, bottom up, seamed, encased front selvedges, sewing in zipper.
