Lightweight and somewhere between a shawl and a neckerchief in size, Bosherston features cabled waterlilies and a cabled curlicue border. It’s worked from the bottom tip up.

Skills required are:
knitting basics (k, p, single-end CO, BO), basic cabling, working from charts. All the closed-ring cabling techniques are explained in the pattern, but not cabling as such.

The row-by-row directions are partly written, partly charted.

You will need:

• 200 g (700 m / 765 yd) sport weight yarn. I used Drops Baby Merino in Light Lavender Mix
• 3mm (US 2 1/2) circular needle, at least 100 cm long
• up to 2 cable needles, depending on preferred cabling method
• 9 stitchmarkers
• tapestry needle, scissors, blocking equipment

Use larger needles and a worsted or aran weight yarn to make a larger and warmer shawl. The waterlily motif can of course be used for other projects such as blankets or to adorn garments.

Bosherston in Pembrokeshire is famous for its beautiful lily ponds. I’ve known it as a dreamy, quiet sort of place.
