Inspired by the plentiful arches of the Boston Public Library, this shawl uses German short rows to create arches of its own with garter and stockinette stitch. The edging continues the arch theme and adds softness to the edge. The edging is showcased particularly well when the shawl is wrapped as a scarf. This is a quick and fun shawl to knit.
This pattern provides a great opportunity to stash bust or use those wild variegate yarns! If you’re interested in stash busting, you can find details about yardage used per section in BarnYarns test notes.
