Botanical Socks
Botanical Sock Collection
My grandma used to knit us socks, when I was a kid…way back in the seventies!
In all kind of colours and I still remember the speckled yarn she used and some of the lace patterns…
This inspired me to design a collection of socks with this retro style, using my own handdyed yarn. The yarns have been dyed with natural colorants which made me choose for eyelet lace patterns with botanical themes.
In this pattern you’ll find the knitting descriptions for three different socks; with Hop Cones, Traveling Vines and Leaves.
Any sockyarn with the same gauge of 28 stitches and 34 rows and 400m on 100 gram is convenient for this pattern. Even lace yarn ( 800 m on 50 g ), held double could be used.
To get a similar look as my socks have, I advise you to use handdyed yarn, for example Hedgehog Sock or la Bien Aimee MCN light or Malabrigo Sock. I used appproximately 70 gram for one pair of socks.
the pattern is written for three shoesizes: 36/37 - 38/39 and 40/41
The socks are knitted in the round on doublepointed sockneedles , no.3. the heels are knitted with a short row technique.
All three pattern are in this downloadable booklet, with a lot of images. If you intend to print the booklet, you might choose to select only the uneven pages, in order to save ink and paper.
