Sizing

Sizes 1 2, 3, 4 5 for hat circumferences of 10 12 ¼, 15, 17 20” or 25, 32, 38, 44 50 cm. Sizes intended to fit head circumferences 10-13, 13-17, 17-19, 19-22 22-25” or 25-33, 33-43, 43-48, 48-56 56-64 cm

Tools needed

  • Knitting needles to obtain gauge of 26 stitches x 33 rows in 4 x 4” or 10 x 10 cm. Testers obtained this gauge with US2 (2.75 mm) – US4 (3.5 mm) needles.
  • For sizes 1-3: DPNs and optional 9” circulars recommended
  • For sizes 4-5: DPNs and optional 16” circulars recommended
  • Tapestry needle
  • Measuring tape
  • Scissors
  • Stitch markers (5): One beginning of round (BOR) marker and four decrease (DM) markers

Yarn

  • Worsted weight yarn, any fiber content.
  • Yardage needed: 100 130, 180, 200 250 yards or 92 120, 165, 185 230 m.
  • Yarn used in the photos: Organic Studio Worsted in the colorway “Ernest Shaw” by Neighborhood Fiber Company (100% superwash merino, 200 yds / 183 m in each 113 g skein.
