Boudica Tunic
Queen Boudica was a brave shield maiden and her tunic is designed to be comfortable and resilient as she goes about her duties.
The Boudica Tunic combines both contemporary and traditional style elements with aran cables in a drop shoulder unisex design. The pattern would be considered to require an intermediate skill level, but as a first sweater for a knitter who has worked cables in accessory patterns, this tunic would be perfect. On the other hand, an advanced knitter will find this 12-page pattern engaging and the finished object enjoyable to wear.
A wide cable motif adorns both front and back with a narrower rendition for the sleeves. The wide cable continues into the funnel collar which is worked in the round, while other pieces are worked flat and seamed for a sturdy construction. With drop shoulders the sleeve and body may be of different sizes to allow for unisex fitting. The subtle drape of the body does not require waist shaping, with intended 2-4” positive ease.
Because the pattern is unisex, yardage is variable. A large man with long arms will need more yarn than most women.
