Bountiful Harvest
“This design was taken from Z. Ventaskrasts’ book. Grain, represented in the design, is a symbol of plenty in Latvia. The creature on the grain could be a bird or an insect; either of which would have a bountiful harvest, much to the farmer’s chagrin.
“The top portion of the design would require long carries if worked in stranded knitting, so I chose to work the design in texture. Many of the Latvian charts can be knit as attractive texture patterns.
“This sweater is knit in the round to the underarms then knit back and forth. It has drop shoulders, but they are shaped with short rows.
“Sizes: Since this is a large overall pattern, the easiest way to adjust size to change gauge.”
