In the language of flowers, Cornflowers represent hope for the future (and riches!), Coreopsis means cheerfulness, Gerberas mean happiness and Daisies show attachment and love. I can’t promise that wearing this scarf will bring you all of these things, but it’s something to aim for in these uncertain times. Its also good to have a pop of bright cheerful colour with you as you go about your daily business. The 75% merino blend yarn is beautifully soft, drapes wonderfully and will keep you warm whilst you dream of summer days. Being botanically dyed in small batches (and with some of the dye stuff grown in Folkestone) this is also an environmentally considerate and low-impact fashion choice, which will last for years to come.

This scarf is made up from 3 repeats of 4 different floral designs; Daisy, Cornflower, Coreopsis and Gerbera.

Originally sold as part of a kit in Stem By Stem Florists, Folkestone, to celebrate National Wool Week 2020, pattern is now being made available on its own as a download.

Gauge: Gauge is not important in this design, and blocking will correct any misshaped stitches, but of you are aware that you crochet particularly loosely I would suggest using a smaller crochet hook, say 2.75mm, to make this scarf.

Level:
Intermediate/confident beginner. Basic stitches like chain, double crochet and treble, plus a few slightly more advanced techniques such as treble two together and hooking around long chains. Understanding rounds. Counting stitches. Reading crochet chart (optional).

Tools needed:
3mm crochet hook, darning needle, scissors or snips, blocking board and pins, gentle wool wash, stitch marker.

Yarn:
This pattern is designed to be used with the Folkestone Harbour Yarn botanically dyed ‘Bouquet’ mini skein set, which contains 10 x 10g (42.5m) sock weight mini skeins. Available from www.FolkestoneHarbourYarn.com

If you are looking to use alternative yarns, I would recommend any 75% merino/25% nylon sock weight yarn which measures 425m per 100g. Cottons or other fibres with the same meterage could also be used.
