Very easy pattern, suitable for beginners. The headband is worked back and forth to the desired length. The cast on and bind off edges of the headband are sewn with mattress stitch. The strap for the central knot is knitted separately and sewn across the headband with mattress stitch.

Size: circumference 48 cm (19”) to fit head circumference 54-58 cm (21” – 23”), width 10 cm (4”) after wet blocking. The size can be easy adjusted to any head circumference.

Yarn:
(A) Drops Baby Alpaca Silk (70% Alpaca, 30% Silk; 167 m (183 yds)/50 g (1.8 oz)), color 0100 Off White, 1 skein;
(B) Drops Kid-silk (75% Mohair, 25% Silk; 210 m (230 yds)/25 g (0.88 oz)), color 01 Off White, 1 skein.
The pattern is worked with 1 strand of yarn A and 1 strand of yarn B held together.

Yarn substitution recommendations:
(A) Sport/fine weight #2 merino wool or alpaca yarn, with meterage 150-175 m (164 – 191 yds) per 50 g and with gauge 23-26 sts per 10 cm (4’’) in Stockinette st;
(B) Mohair/silk blend, with meterage 200 – 220 m (218 – 240 yds) per 25 g and with gauge 23-26 sts per 10 cm (4’’) in Stockinette st;

Needles: 4.5 mm (US size 7) for working flat.

Notions: tapestry needle.

Gauge: 19 sts and 25 rows to 10 cm (4”) in Stockinette st, working with 1 strand of yarn A and 1 strand of yarn B held together, with 4.5 mm (US size 7) needles.
