For those occasions where a formal approach for gift giving is appropriate, present your gift bottle of wine in either the bow tie cozy with wine glasses, or one with bow ties and top hats. You can bet that this will be a unique, one of a kind gift.

The pattern contains instructions for both cozys. The samples were knit in worsted weight cotton yarn, using size 5 double pointed needles. Each cozy used approximately 50 yards of black and 50 yards of white yarn.

Because stranding is used on the bow ties and top hats, you need to strand very, very loosely to give the cozy the stretch it needs to fit over the wine bottle. If you knit tightly, you might want to switch to a larger size needle when doing these 2 sections of the cozy.
