Material Qualities
We’ve used two yarns for our samples with very different recommended gauges to show you the full versatility of this piece! Andrea worked her original samples in Uist Wool Canach, a fingering weight, 100% Scottish Merino wool. This yarn has an exceptional amount of bloom and fills in the somewhat sparse gauge to create a lightweight, lofty layer.
Alternatively, our sample shown on Lexi (photos coming very soon) features Julie Asselin Nurtured, an aran-weight yarn that gives the finished garment the heft and structure of your favorite sweatshirt when knit at this tight gauge.
Experiment with woolly yarns at fingering weight, but reserve anything smoother for a dk or above so you don’t lose structure. Go thicker for a dense and cozy fabric to keep out the cold, or lighter for a layering piece or warmer-climate sweater.
