In my house, projects get worked on (and stowed) in nearly every room, and then are taken with me when I’m out and about. I try to contain them in baskets, totes, or bags that look appealing and like they belong in the room. My ideal container sits upright and open, but is easy to grab and go.

Crochet, especially when fulled, can create a firm, structural fabric, so I thought it would be fun to create a boxy basket — a BOXET! — project tote that makes the most of that quality. Doubling the yarn and using a not-huge hook increase the firmness, and allow for playful color mixing too!

10½“ (26.5 cm) long, 9” (23 cm) high, and 6¾” (17 cm) deep, after fulling

OR easily adapted to use your scraps and odd balls! You’ll see that the pattern is very simple and you can play with yarns, colors and textures. Go for it! Just don’t use any superwash (or other non-felting yarns like cotton or acrylic) if you plan to full it.
