The Boyd is a chunky bonnet that uses Super Bulky yarn. It’s a beginner friendly pattern that looks great on both boys and girls, makes a wonderful gift, and helps keep little heads cozy and warm during the coldest months. Bonnets often stay put on babies heads better than a typical beanie, so we love them! The pattern gives instruction for the classic pixie style and also includes a pattern for optional bear ears, but the options for customization are endless! Add a pom (or two!), make it striped, combine several strands of lighter yarn, make it with faux fur yarn, etc!

Difficulty Level: Motivated Beginner/Intermediate

Knowledge and comfort with the following stitches is recommended - sc, hdc, sc2tog, slst. I do not include detailed instructions for completing individual stitches, but there are numerous videos on You Tube that are great resources for this information should you need it. I’m happy to recommend a few should you need them!

Materials:

• 60-138 grams (45-102 yards) Big Twist Natural Blend yarn or similar Super Bulky (weight 6) yarn to make gauge.
• 9 mm (M/13) crochet hook
• 4 stitch markers (optional for placing ears)
• tapestry needle
• scissors

Pattern includes 7 sizes:
Newborn: 13”-14”
0-3 months: 14”-15”
3-6 months: 15”-16”
6-12 months: 16”-18”
1-2 years: 18”-19.5”
3-5 years: 19.5”-20.5”
6-8 years: 20.5”-22”
