Bracken Beanie
The Bracken Beanie is worked seamlessly in the round and uses a combination of broken rib and cables to create a cosy, textured fabric.
The pattern includes two sizes and gives the option of working either a single or fold-over brim in springy twisted rib. Clear written instructions and charts are included throughout.
Yarn used in pictured samples:
Northern Yarn - BFL/ Poll Dorset (dyed using onion skins and knitted in the first size).
Northern Yarn - Yealand Manor Mule (undyed and knitted in the second size with a fold-over brim).
Blacker Yarns - Westcountry Tweed (natural grey and knitted in the second size with a foldover brim).
I love Northern Yarn’s locally sourced, lofty and delightful wooly-wools and used two different blends for two of my samples. Due to the small batch nature of the way these yarns are produced, the blends I used may not be available all year round. If this is the case, I found that Westcountry Tweed by Blacker Yarns was a great substitute (I needed 2x 50g balls). If you are trying to substitute yarn for this pattern, I would recommend using a DK 100% wool yarn with a ball length of between 220-240m (238-260yds).
