Whether you are a woodland sprite gathering moss in the cool of the morning, or a commuter waiting for the bus, the Bracken Hood is the perfect cozy addition to any cold weather gear!

The design offers protection from the wind for your head, neck and face. The front and back plackets tuck into your coat and leave no gaps for the chill to creep in. The drawstring framing the face gives you the option to snug it up close or wear it open. All while preventing hat hair, (my favorite part).

Using the Roositud technique, a bracken fern leaf runs down the back of the hood, knitted as you work. The edges of the plackets are worked in i-cord that is both subtle and quick to work. The edge around the face is a casing for the drawstring that is worked in 1x1.

The yarn I used for my sample is Biches et Buches Le Lambswool a light and cozy DK weight yarn.
It’s knitted up on size US 6/4 mm needles, with a smaller needle for thew drawstring.

The yardage for the MC is 285-370 yds/260-338 m, and CC is about 150 yds/137 m.

It’s sized for the whole family, kids large through adult large.
