Braeburn is a long, shallow crescent shaped shawl that can be worn as a shawl draped casually around the shoulders or wrapped around the neck like a cozy scarf for bundling up on those windy frigid days. Knit mostly in garter stitch, the sawtooth lace border is knit first. Stitches are then picked up across the top and knit up using short row shaping for the body of the shawl and finally a picot bind-off is used for a polished finish.

Finished Measurements
One size: 68” 172.7 cm across top and 13” 33 cm deep at center.
Materials
Approx. 440 yds for the border and 280 yds for the body of the shawl if knitting the two color version or 720 yds if knitting the one color version of sport/dk weight yarn.
I used Jill Draper Makes Stuff Mohonk (4 oz/113 g, 370 yds/338 m, 100% unregistered NYS Cormo Wool); 2 skeins, color: Mocha; 1 skein, color: Elephant
US size 8 5.0 mm 32” circular needles or longer, or size needed to obtain gauge
US size 9 5.5 mm 32” circular needles or longer, or 1 size larger than size needed to obtain gauge
Tape measure or ruler
Tapestry needle
One removable stitch marker
Gauge
16 sts and 32 rows = 4” 10 cm in garter st, blocked, on smaller needles.
