Braemar Sweater
Braemar Sweater is a textured sweater inspired by cold crisp winter mornings in Scotland. The textured pattern is worked over 4 rows from the top down to give a beautiful waffle effect. The colour work on the lower part of the sweater gives the appearance of stranded knitting, but due to the pattern it is knitted in coloured stripes making it more beginner friendly.
First the back is knitted back and forth, then stitches are picked up from the cast-on edge to form the shoulders. The shoulders are worked one at a time whilst creating the V-neck shape. The front and back are then joined and new stitches cast on for the underarms. The body is then knit in the round. Sleeves stitches are picked up around the armhole opening and worked in the round with decreases. Finally collar stitches are picked up and knitted in rib along the neck edge, then folded over and secured. The sleeve and body edges are knitted in rib and bound off using your preferred bind-off technique.
