Braided Britches
These baby pants were originally based on my Twisty Trousers pattern, and are knit in alternating columns of stockinette and braided cables. This intermediate-level pattern is written for those who already have a firm grasp of knitting basics, including basic cable techniques, Kitchener stitch, and short rows in the round. Because it is intended for use over cloth diapers, it includes short row shaping in the back to increase the back rise, as well as a wide crotch to allow for a better fit over bulky diapers. The pattern includes instructions for a pleated ruffle as well as a ribbed cuff for the legs.
This pattern is written in 4 hip sizes, NB/small (0-3M), medium (6-12M), large (12-18M) and XL/toddler (18-24+M). Rise and inseam can be customized as needed.
