Braided Embers Sweater
Pricing update: I have increased my prices to more accurately represent the work that has gone into the making of my patterns. All my patterns have increased in prices, however my newer designs have increased more than my old ones, as I feel I have learned a lot over the years and the quality of my newer designs is higher. The price listed reflects what I believe is fair for the work put into the design, however I understand that the price increases may be inaccessible to some and am offering some tiered discounts for those that need them.
A “Choose What You Pay” model is available for this pattern, allowing both financial accessibility and fair pricing. The buyer may pay what they are able while still valuing the hard work invested to create this design. Use the codes below in order to pay the price listed after each. Choose whichever price works best for you!
- No Code – Full Price = $14.00 CAD
- PK10 – 10% off = $12.60 CAD
- PK20 – 20% off = $11.20 CAD
- PK30 – 30% off = $9.80 CAD
I also offer a Buy 3, Get 1 Free discount! Add any 4 of my patterns to your cart, and use the code BUY3GET1 to get the 4th pattern free! Note: the free pattern will be the lowest priced pattern.
The Braided Embers Sweater is designed to be a simple, cozy crop sweater that has a big chunky braid down the front, and optional contrast edging. It is a crew neck style, and is worked top down. The sleeves are a loose balloon style sleeve with a fitted ribbed cuff. The bottom hem is a 1x1 ribbed hem. The sweater is designed to fall at a crop level, but you are welcome to modify length as desired. It is a size inclusive design.
Sizes offered: 30(34, 38, 42){46, 50, 54}(58, 62, 66, 70)
These sizes reflect the FINISHED bust measurement
Size 70 is untested
Needles required:
8 mm for body and sleeves
6 mm for collar ribbing
6.5 mm for bottom/cuff ribbing
may need other size needles to meet gauge
I recommend using a set of interchangeable needles, as you will need 16” cord for the neck and beginning of the raglan, plus one or two longer cords that correspond to your bust size.
Gauge: 12 sts x 14 rows = 4 x 4inches (stockinette, in the round, blocked)
Yarn required: any bulky weight yarn to match gauge
I used indie dyed Treehouse Knits bulky for the my contrast edge sample, and KnitPicks Biggo, which is a more affordable yarn, for my solid sample.
Yardage required:
You can do this sweater in one solid colour, or with a contrast edging.
Solid - 466(545, 619, 716){784, 886, 955}(1071, 1115, 1208, 1272)
-or-
MC - 440(518, 590, 685){750, 850, 917}(1030, 1073, 1163, 1225)
CC - 26(27, 29, 31){34, 36, 38}(41, 42, 45, 47)
yardage is an approximation, and is calculated using the mid crop length. Allow for extra yardage if choosing to length modifications
