No Cables!
Clarification (I will get this updated soon!): when referring to the smaller needles needed for the brim, I mistakenly wrote “or size needed for gauge.” It should read, rather: “two sizes smaller than your gauge needles.”
The name of this hat evokes the geological pattern of meandering streams that form and rejoin across a glacial field.
When I came across Homestead worsted weight from High Country Wool, I knew this bouncy 2-ply needed to be made up into some sort of cable-y hat. Normally 2-ply isn’t always the best choice for cables, but the twisted stitch faux cables yielded a lovely result. The yarn was delightful and this pattern took shape quickly! If you’re hesitant about cables but want to dip your toe in the water, give this pattern a try! It’s cozy and squishy and fits Small-Large Adults comfortably.
