No Cables!

Braided rivers are a geological pattern of meandering streams that form and rejoin across a glacial field.
When I designed the beanie by the same name I knew the stitch pattern would translate beautifully into a baby blanket (or any size!). The pattern is formed through a series of twisted stitches/mock cables with a seed stitch interlude and an icord edging. If you’re hesitant about cables but want to dip your toe in the water, give this pattern a try! It’s cozy and squishy and has a delightfully satisfying result.

MATERIALS

YARN
5 skeins Blue Sky Fibers Sweater Worsted (160yds/100g) (I used about 470g) in the Waterslide colorway (#7519).
-OR- about 500g of a worsted weight yarn that provides a comparable gauge after blocking.
Note: If you gauge varies, or you’d like to change the dimensions, you will likely need more yarn.

NEEDLES
US 8 (5.0mm) circular needles 40” long.

NOTIONS
Darning needle
Scissors
Stitch Markers to denote pattern repeats

GAUGE

2 5/8” wide x 3 1/8” tall/10 st pattern repeat on gauge needles after blocking.

The stitch pattern is both written and charted.

Special thanks to Norah Gaughan for the inspiration for this pattern!
