This is a cosy cowl knit in the round using a repeat of the horseshoe lace pattern, one which is very commonly used in Shetland knitting. It is one of my favourite lace patterns to knit as I love the repetition of the yarn overs, stitches and decreases.

This pattern uses one skein of Langsoond yarn (100g/220m/238yds) which comes from fleeces from the Brake croft and surrounding areas. Most of the land looks over Langsound, the strip of sea that the yarn is named after.

You can make the cowl shorter or longer by knitting more horsehoe repeats.

You will need a 40 cm or larger circular needle or long DPNs in size 4.0mm or in a size to get the gauge.
